Intellectual Property Policy

Beth Brower and Rhysdon Press, LLC (hereinafter “Rhysdon Press”) retain all copyrights in their creative works (“Rhysdon Press Works”). This means that, except as described below, copies, derivative works, distributions, and public displays are not allowed. A “derivative work” is a work based upon one or more of the Rhysdon Press Works. Any visual fan art (e.g., images, digital, 3D, sculpture, etc.) allowed hereunder is limited to original works depicting characters, scenes, geographies, and/or other elements from Rhysdon Press Works, and must not include or incorporate a whole, partial, or substantial copy of any visual art from any Rhysdon Press Works.

 NON-COMMERCIAL USE

You can make visual fan art (graphics, images, paintings, sculptures) and written fan fiction based on Beth Brower’s works (e.g., the Emma M. Lion books) only for non-commercial (no direct or indirect commercial benefit to you or anyone else) use.

For example, you may post your fan art to your social media sites, etc. but you may not make money from them directly or indirectly. An Instagram page that acts as a storefront is considered commercial, and you must have a licensing agreement.

No films, trailers, shorts or A.I.- generated video, etc., of any kind is ever allowed. Any exceptions require a written license agreement with Rhysdon Press, LLC.

Music inspired by Beth’s work is allowed for non-commercial use as long as it does not incorporate phrases, sentences, etc., from Beth’s works. Any music with her work in the title or lyrics is not allowed.

COMMERCIAL USE

Commercial use includes any direct or indirect financial benefit. We love our fans and their enthusiasm, especially for all things Emma M. Lion. That said, in order to not compromise the integrity of Beth’s work, her copyrights and trademarks, if you wish to sell merchandise based on or that incorporates any of Beth Brower’s works (e.g., the Emma M. Lion books), you must acquire a licensing agreement beforehand from Rhysdon Press, LLC.

Written fan art, fan fiction, comics, etc. are not allowed for commercial use.

No films, trailers, shorts, or A.I. generated video etc., of any length are allowed for commercial use.

Any commercial event/s based on Beth’s Intellectual Property require a contract/licensing agreement (meaning: any event where tickets, and/or merchandise are or will be sold).

You may not create and sell maps based on Beth Brower’s IP.

You may not use A.I. to create and sell products, etc.

Crowd-funding to produce or distribute fan art or fan fiction, etc., is not allowed.

If you are selling merchandise that is adjacent to Beth’s work, you can reference a Beth Brower book title or character etc., in the description of the item but not in the title or header for the item. For example, a t-shirt titled “Alchemy t-shirt,” showing the word “Alchemy,” is fine and may include in the item description, “inspired by [book name] by Beth Brower.  A t-shirt with “Lapis Lazuli House” on it would require a licensing agreement with Rhysdon Press, after which you could use that IP in your header.

You may not give away fan art for promotional purposes. You may produce and distribute to close friends and family a small number of your fan art items that are otherwise allowable hereunder.

For licensing enquiries or questions regarding such, an email will be provided at the beginning of January.

Please be aware that Rhysdon Press, LLC, and Beth Brower, are not responsible for any investment of time, money etc., invested into products you hope to sell but for which you do not yet have a licensing agreement.

If the creation of anything related to Rhysdon Press, LLC, and/or Beth Brower’s Intellectual Property is not covered or answered in this document, or you are unsure regarding this policy, please assume it is not allowed, unless you receive written permission in the form of a contract. Any failure to enforce any of these terms will not operate as a waiver of the right to do so on another occasion.

This policy will be updated as needed, so please check back before engaging in any venture, commercial or non-commercial, having to do with the Intellectual Property of Rhysdon Press, LLC, or Beth Brower.

Thank you.

Because it is a busy holiday season for the Rhysdon Press team, and our priority is focusing on The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 9, the form to apply for licensing will be made available at the beginning of January.

Requests will be answered in the order that they are received. Please allow the Rhysdon Press team time to work through all submissions.
